Tallahassee, 2011 male Miami

You'll notice that Tallahassee, Tally for short, appears a lot on this site- he's my pride and joy. He was bred by Carol Huddleston of Low Belly Reptiles in the USA, and imported last year, whereupon he found his way to me. Tally is as nice an example of a Miami you could hope to find, and I am very lucky to have him.

Aurora, 2009 female Pewter

I'm a massive fan of silvery-grey snakes, so it's no surprise that Aurora is one of my favourites. The pewter morph is made up of charcoal and diffused, which creates the lovely gunmetal colour and lateral diffusion you see. Aurora is a lovely snake and this year produced me 14 stunning hatclings.

Hera, 2010 female Amel Stripe

Hera is a fesity but fantastic example of an amel (amelanistic) stripe. She has a very strong, clean stripe which is holding its colour very well as she grows, and her background colour just gets brighter with age. Hera can be a handful at times- must be due to the fact she's a redhead! She will be ready to breed next season, and being het caramel should produce some absolute stunners when paired with either Sitka or Patroclus.

Sarabi, 2009 female Butter

Sarabi lives up to her morph- she really is as soft as butter. This season she proved out as het stripe, producing some gorgeous wee hatchlings of very good quality after being paired with Sitka. She is also possibly het ghost (hypo anery) but this will be tested in future years. Sarabi is what I would call a "good do-er"- always slightly on the chunky side, although since laying she is a much better size.

Trinity, 2010 female Snow

Trinity is a super example of the snow morph, with strong yellow on her chin and neck, lime green saddle outlines and a pink tinge to her saddles. Her breeder sold her to me as a regular snow, though she thought she might be homo hypo, therefore a coral snow. As Trinity gets older she certainly displays more and more of the coral traits, although this won't be proven until next season. Interestingly, Trin laid a clutch of 11 slugs this year despite having never been near a male in her life, and so is currently recuperating from that.

 Sitka, 2009 male Stripe

Sitka is the first stripe I ever bought, and I was admit that he was a bit of an impulse buy. He is one of only a few shop-bought snakes that I own, and didn't come with any records, so I didn't know his sex, exact age or morph, or his hets. There is some debate over whether or not he is a normal stripe or a hypo stripe, but it looks most likely that he is a normal. Last year he was identified as male, and this year proved out as het amel and caramel. His offspring seem to inherit his vanishing stripe appearance. He is a very placid and gentle snake and the only one of mine that doesn't strike feed or constrict.

Neo, 2010 male Snow Stripe

Neo is Trinity's full brother, also the size difference between them is amazing. He was a fussy feeder as a hatchling although now eats each week without fail having been given a very good start by his breeder. Again, Neo is possibly a coral snow stripe, and will be put with Trinity next year to try and prove this out.

Mufasa, 2011 male Butter

Mufasa came from a lovely local breeder and is het motley. Like Sarabi, my other butter, he is a very fast grower, though of course this could just be coincidence. Mufasa might breed next year with Sarabi to produce messy butter motleys.

Tyrion, 2011 Diffused het pied, anery and stripe

These 3 little terrors were imported from the USA last year and where bred by Rich Hume. They are a project group, a male and two females, and came from a genuine white-sided mother. When Tyrion is bred with Arya and Sansa they will hopefully produce some pied-sided granite stripes, and with any luck, go white-sided upon maturity just like their mother did. These 3 are pretty hot headed but will calm in time with more handling and interaction- in fact, so naughty are they that I can only photograph them when they are distracted with grub!

Sansa, 2011 female Diffused het anery, pied and stripe

Juliet, 2010 female Mystery Normal

Juliet and her boyfriend Romeo were bought as a fun project from a nice Scottish breeder- they are both het anery, hypo, charcoal, diffused and stripe. Juilet provided me with 10 lovely eggs this year which produced some STUNNING babies- see below for the keepers!

Romeo, 2010 male Mystery Normal

Wichita, 2008 female Ghost motley

Wichita is a lovely snake, and a very big girl who is also het amel and possibly het caramel. Unfortunately though I'm not having much luck with breeding her- last year she totally slugged out, and this year has failed to become gravid despite locking with Casper dozens of times. Oh well, there is always next year.

Casper, 2002 male Ghost

Casper was the first corn I ever bought and is the biggest and friendliest of all my snakes. I don't actually have a single snake that Casper has fathered, though maybe I'll have better luck next year.

Mystique and Magneto, 2012 female and male Paradox Pewters

As you can see, Mystique and her brother Magneto are really something special. Whatever is the cause for the unique appearance of these animals is unclear still, but both are excellent feeders and fast growers, and will be exciting to breed in the future.

Paradox is a random genetic mutation when animals show patches of colour that should be impossible to show due to there genetic makeup.

Pewters are a type of anery, which lack the pigment to visually express red/yellow/orange colours. In the case of these paradoxes something has occurred which means that they shows the red/orange colours seen in sporadic patches on the body.

Paradoxes are fairly rare as there is currently no evidence to show that this effect can be inherited by future generations- therefore it is virtually impossible to reproduce unless by happy accident.

There are those who believe that paradoxes are actually chimeras, animals that actually consist of 2 individuals, fused together during the embryonic stage of development. Blood testing to see if the animal contains 2 different blood types would help lend weight to this argument, and I will endeavour to have this blood work carried out in the future.

Naiobe, 2012 female Diffused

This bright girl is a clutchmate to Mystique and Magneto. She has a stunning bright red belly and is a very fast grower as well as a greedy pig! Naiobe hatched with her yolk sack still attached and it was touch and go whether she would survive, but she did (with the help of a jacket made from a wet Rizla paper!) and is sure to be a breathtaking adult.

Phoenix, 2012 female Diffused Phantom

Pheonix is one of Romeo and Juliet's babies. She has a gorgeous delicate colour and lovely lateral diffusion. Phantom combines hypo and charcoal to create a slightly more unusual colouration. These aren't hugely common, which is a shame, as I think they are stunning.

Quicksilver, 2012 female Platinum?

Whatever Quicksilver is, she is STUNNING. I'm sure in time we will work it out but with so many genes that could be involved, breeding might be the only way to work it out!

Storm, 2012 male Phantom Stripe

Just a gorgeous and mellow snake, nearly entirely patternless and so delicate looking. Love him!
